Why Struggle for Perfection?
Having been a perfectionist a good portion of my life even though I most often fell short yet I learned many many years ago, it is useless at least to some degree, I write this for those who struggle to be a perfectionist. Why struggle for a hundred percent and be deviled when you can get eighty -five to ninety-five percent and enjoy what you have? Isn't the best you can do good enough? Enjoy it and forget trying to obtain the one hundred percent.
Let me explain. A perfectionist is always trying to excel and get most things perfect, yet they seldom do and then they are disappointed or frustrated and so they are deviled. If a person just does their best and only obtains, let's say ninety percent and is unconcerned with making things perfect, they can enjoy what they have and not be deviled.
You see, it is like this. We are in a world of material and temporal things. Nothing of itself is perfect. Mankind is imperfect individually and collectively. It is impossible for a person to do almost anything perfect because imperfection cannot create perfection. Each produces after its own kind and so it is useless to be frustrated when we fall short a little. It doesn't matter. It matters more that we do our best and then enjoy the outcome. All of this does not mean we shouldn't shoot for perfection because the higher the goal we shoot for, the more we generally obtain; just don't be disappointed with a little less than the perfection we sought. Enjoy the good in what comes and quit crying about the little five percent you missed when you have ninety-five percent to enjoy. Get it?
