Give!
"Give and it shall be given unto you."
Does anyone really know what this means? It is a command with a promise. It is a surety. It is a law of nature that proves itself over and over unfailing just as the law of gravity does. Time and experience prove it! The problem is that so few believe it and understand it and I do not proclaim to understand it fully yet I know if one gives they "shall" receive. I use the word shall rather than will because our will has nothing in it. Shall ensures it shall happen. Why, you might ask? Simply because it is a law of the Universe that the great Creator has established for the good of mankind. It is a rule that is for our own good and the good of all.
It is interesting to me how people constantly try to sell everything they have even to a dime and a quarter. Why do they not GIVE? It shall come back to them. It shall be given to them. Try it but let me say this...Do not give to get...that is selfish and selfishness is error. It is wrong. Give because it is the right thing to do. Give because you are following the laws of the Universe which is not only best for you but also the best for all. Just think about it for a while. What would happen if we were in a giving world instead of a taking world? Would not all have what they need soon? If all gave without regard to receiving and simply because it is the right thing to do, would the Earth not soon be filled with love, goodness and mercy and plenty abound at the hand of grace? Would it not be as it is to be with God as the great example in giving? What has He charged us for the blessings He bestows on man everyday? The Creator gives and gives and gives. Is He not the example we are to follow and if He is, then why do we not follow it? It is because we are selfish.
Another matter enters my mind and that is the element of receiving. So many always want to pay or give something to another when they are given to. Why? There are various reasons. They may be too proud to be given to. They feel as if they are less than the giver and so they want to buy their way. Not good! They foiled the law of giving and receiving. "Give and it shall be given unto you." Another reason may be they feel obligated to the giver and they do not want to feel obligated. Giving from the heart and receiving from the heart obligates no one. It only blesses. Another reason is that some always want to be on top and feel as if they are number one and so they must always pay to assure themselves of their superiority. The feeling of superiority is only in the mind of the person. No one is superior! We are all alike...no one is more or less than the other. There are some who just have not learned to accept a blessing graciously. They will reject or make excuses and comments because they simply do not know how to deal with a free blessing for which they have not worked. They need to learn to enjoy the blessing. "Give and it shall be given unto you." We need to learn to function with the laws of the Universe and stop fighting them. It is we who get hurt when we jump from a high building and so it is when we reject a blessing. We lose.
I suppose I could go on about this matter but the principle is so simple and clear. "Give.......and it shall be given unto you." Oh, how mankind needs to understand this and function in it. If there is a life hereafter...will everyone be paying their way or will it be a life of giving? You decide. "Give and it shall be given unto you." Today is the day to learn it, not tomorrow. The hereafter, if there is one, will come from today, not tomorrow. "Give.....and it shall be given unto you." Try it and find rewards you never knew. Give from the heart because it is the right thing to do. Be wise in your giving and give. You will never regret it. "Give.....and it shall be given unto you." Guaranteed!
One final comment and we'll say no more. When concerning giving, do not think money, money money and material things although they are included. Think love, mercy, forgiveness, hope and all types of attributes that are intangible. Think about loving your neighbor or providing hope for someone who is in desperate need of hope or a kind word for the depressed. Perhaps groceries for a shut-in or maybe forgiveness for someone who has hurt you. I can go on and on but perhaps you are getting the message. Giving must and needs be a way of living. It needs be the way we live and so giving is the way we receive what we need. Amen? Amen!
