Different Take on Colors
Recently, I ran into a gentleman while towing his broken down truck to a distant location and so we had several hours to converse. Somehow the issue of race and culture and so forth evolved and he told me his take on "colored". It is kind of comical, yet I must agree. See what you think.
He explained there are those who call a black person colored. He said he just doesn't get that term. He said the white man should be called colored. White man changes color all the time while a black man remains black at all times. His examples were these: If a black man gets very cold, he doesn't turn blue; A white man does. If a black man works in the sun, he doesn't turn red; A white man does. If a black man gets sick, he doesn't get pale; A white man does. All the while a white man changes colors all the time, blue, red, pale and so forth. I like it! He's right! Just like everything else, it's all screwed up. Huh!? No wonder a black man doesn't like being called colored. He isn't!
