Sunroom

  • Sunroom Door
What you are looking at in this picture is a large window which was actually a door without the frame and set into the wall. I can't remember where we obtained it but I know it works well to help light the sun room and knowing me I'm sure it had to be a good buy. I do remember it was new when we got it. Along with the window/door, you see cedar shakes that were left over from an outside job which I used for one wall in the sun room being that was all I had left. The bench at the bottom of the picture is one my dad made and gave to us. We use it from sitting to setting plants on when we prepare seedlings for spring planting.
  • Winding Steel Staircase
A winding steel staircase is seen here perhaps not the best shot in the world but is seen making its way to the upper bedroom above the sunroom. The secret here is the night before we were to go to the manufacturer for a staircase, the wife saw an advertisement for a staircase twice the size we planned on buying which cost about one half the amount we expected to pay for the smaller unit. A definite saving and as time took its toll we realized the smaller unit would definitely have been a thorn in our side...just too small.
  • Exposed Trusses
The trusses seen make an open support system for the ceiling of the sunroom and a floor for the bedroom above. Southern yellow pine 2" x 6" boards were used to make a floor/ceiling.
