7 months Production All phases of plant operations from fork truck operator to janitorial and machine/line operators.

Maintenance Practically all phases of the plant in all departments from lubrication to line maintenance, machinery overhaul and machine shop fabrication to include welding with both a stick and tig welder, operating lathes, milling machines, surface grinder, shear and brake as well as sheet metal fabrication.
1 year Maintenance Trainer Trained packaging attendants. Also involved writing training procedures, manuals, etc.
7 years Assistant Maintenance Supervisor Worked primarily with the maintenance supervisor on 2nd shift. Occasionally, it was necessary to cover for 1st or 3rd shift supervisors for vacations, etc. After 4 years in this position, I was running the shift and the maintenance supervisor was off on other assignments as various situations and needs dictated.
6 months Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities ranged from coordinating all maintenance schedules to assigning jobs to ensuring all lines (12) and equipment were kept running as well as working with all shift production supervisors and reporting daily, weekly, monthly and yearly in addition to building teamwork within the groups of employees as needed.
**(During the last two years as assistant supervisor and maintenance supervisor, there were many times I acted as the 2nd shift manager to fill in for vacations or absences as needed. In this position I was responsible for all personnel in the plant (hourly and salaried)
5 months Engineering Implemented several capital projects involving up to $50,000, successfully.
5 months QTE Coordinator Position involved setting up a workable system that could process a backlog of 1100 ideas submitted by anyone in the plant to optimize and improve operations within the plant. It dealt with receiving the written idea on a form (hardcopy or electronically), coordinating the idea with any or all departments, plant personnel, and tracking and reporting on a weekly basis from plant manager to lowest level of supervisory personnel electronically.
3 years, 5 months Work Order Scheduler/PM Analyst/Maintenance Systems Coordinator Position entailed processing, tracking and reporting daily, weekly, monthly and yearly or as needed of all work orders, preventative maintenance checks and QTEs. It also involved the coordination of several other systems that tied to payroll for maintenance and corporate and general ledger systems for the corporation. During this period of time I was a key player in the purchase, development, setup and installation of a computerized maintenance management system which was to replace the old systems and tie the new one to the necessary ones needed in the corporation known as Chief by Maintenance Automation Corporation.
**Note: While working in all of the above management positions, I worked very closely with both Storeroom and Purchasing departments and became very familiar with their interests, needs and procedures to maintain inventory and control.
7/69 to 7/71 Shafer Trucking and Modern Trucking Companies Drove tractor and trailer and logged a quarter of a million miles in 2 years.
During this time I pulled flatbed, dump, van, refrigerated van and pole trailers hauling 70' concrete beams, concrete products, stone, steel (coils, wire coils, sheets, rods and barstock both oiled and dry and overwidth loads), general freight, army eguipment including bomb shells as well as foodstuffs from candy to swinging meat.

  • Have received dozens of Qte certificates for recognition of ideas that improved Reese plant operations, a few of which are:
          a. Designed and coordinated with the engineering department a gating system that improved case output 41,000 cases annually on one line and generated a cost savings of $65,000 annually.
          b. Streamlined maintenance systems that generated a cost savings of $82,277 annually by reducing labor/scheduling requirements.
  • Worked diligently with employees and gained their trust to manage effectively.
  • Was sent to Italy by the company to study and make a recommendation for purchasing bunch wrap equipment totaling $13,000,000.
  • Worked closely with Personnel Department in the interviewing process for hiring hourly maintenance employees on various occasions.
  • Wrote several papers and circulated titled "Setting Goals," "Cost Savings," "Tools for Successful Team Building," etc. to improve plant operations.
